Triumph Herald Twin Petrol Tanks

Here's a period photo courtesy of Andy Martin (6002VC Vitesse fame) showing the arrangement of twin tanks in the back of a Herald. I'm not sure which car this is. Closer inspection makes me think it's a saloon. I considered this mod for my Coupe, but the loss of some boot space put me off.

Shorrock Supercharged Spitfire 1500

Spotted this on eBay earlier this week - a Shorrock supercharged Spitfire 1500.

An interesting installation using what looks like a Herald 13/60 inlet manifold. Unlike Lewis Jones' installation, this time the Shorrock unit has been fitted the same way up as per the Herald setup, but I'm surprised there's sufficient bonnet clearance. I don't think the GT6 bonnet helps, as the bulge ideally needs to be offset over the right hand side of the bonnet. Anyway, it's a 1700cc engine (I'm not familiar with that engine setup) I can't tell how the rear of the Shorrock unit is supported - the inlet manifold on the 1147cc setup incorporates a bracket.

Here's a link to the listing on eBay -

Supercharged Spitfire

Here's some pictures of Lewis Jones' Spitfire taken by Herald fanatic Rob Newton Allen at The South of England Meet this year. Unusually the Shorrock unit is fitted to a 1300/1500 cylinder head using a Herald 13/60 inlet manifold, and I guess for bonnet clearance reasons the unit has been mounted upside down.

Anyone know the whereabouts of Matt Smith?

Several years back at Stoneleigh I bought a Kipping exhaust manifold off a chap called Matt Smith. Matt owns a Black and White Herald Saloon, and I recently found these pictures of Matt's Herald. I'm trying to get hold of Matt, but the contact details I once had are no longer valid, so if you know of Matt, can you get him to drop me an email at website2008@gingell.com. Cheers!

Leon's Supercharged Herald

It's been a while since the last blog, but here's some photos from Leon Guyot of his supercharged Herald in the 1990s...
