I.C.C. Car & Commercial Vehicle Body Repairs

Over the weekend at Stafford, 9700VC received many favourable remarks, especially over the quality of the paint job. Although Paul Cull at Triumph Auto Classique is responsible for the Coupe's bodywork repairs, the body prep and respray was carried out by Ian Hawson at I.C.C.

Ian did a fantastic job and takes a lot of pride in his work. He also likes working on more out of the ordinary stuff.

Looking More Like a Car Again

Here's the Coupé looking more like a car again. The chassis is now properly rolling and the bulkhead and rear tub bolted down. The dashboard is in. The roof is painted and the duo-tone on the bonnet is done. It's now back round the painters for polishing. It looks great.

Doors!

Here are the doors (hanging upside down) looking good in their duo-tone cactus and sebring paint.

The bonnet is nearly finished just waiting for the cactus on the lower half of the wings. The roof is still in etch primer but should be painted cactus this week or next.

More Paint!

Rear tub now looking fantastic in Cactus Green and Sebring White. Original Triumph colours in a slightly non-standard duo-tone combination.

After what seems like months, the Coupé is finally going through paint this week. Paul has done a fantastic job with the bodywork and Ian is doing a brilliant job with the paint. It's difficult to work out the colour in these pics under fluorescent light, but it looks just great.

Duo Tone

I've previously owned two white Heralds (one saloon, one coupé) and I have to say I'm not really that enamoured with the colour. Coupés look great in duo tone, so I was thinking of keeping the original white and adding a splash of colour. Thing is, there are a lot of duo tone red/white, blue/white coupés out there and I was after something a little more distinctive.

The previous aborted coupé restoration was jonquil yellow and white, but I kind of went off that once I saw the combination in the flesh so-to-speak. Last year I saw a duo tone cactus green and white estate - a combination I don't recall seeing before - but it looked good on an estate, and I'm hoping it will look great on the coupé!
